Greenalls order Makro labeller

One of the leading players in the Gin industry over many years, Greenalls of Warrington, has ordered their first Makro labeller as business continues to grow at this famous Distiller.

Greenalls needed to replace an existing in-line labeller on their premium bottling line, as the thirst for high end gins continues. After a full evaluation, the company have chosen a Makro Mak-2 to handle some intricate labelling formats for brands such as Bloom Gin, Ophir, Bulldog, Star of Bombay, Thomas Dakin Gin and Libertines Whisky.

Richard Portman, Managing Director of Makro Labelling UK, commented on this latest order for the UK Spirit industry, "This is our first order into Greenalls, the Makro Labeller will be going in to Line 3, it will not be particularly fast as Spirit lines go, however it has been chosen for the flexibility that the Mak-2 offers. The order is for a six platform, 4 labelling stations applying self-adhesive labels using our patented Optical orientation and mechanical base spotting orientation systems. The bottles that the Makro will be labelling are round, square and rectangular and we will be applying body, back and neck together with U strip and L strip Tamper Evident labels at a speed of 4000 b.p.h."

Nigel Sach, Operations Technical Manager, said, "I was very impressed with Makro when I visited their facility in Goito, Italy together with several installations of similar machines. The flexibility and versatility that Makro offer really appealed to us and the Mak-2 will future proof the line. With gin, currently being such an outstanding success story in the Spirit sector, I am sure we will see many more high end brands going down line 3 in the coming months."

Richard Portman concluded; "This latest order from Greenalls follows our largest labeller in to the Scotch Whisky industry at Edrington and towards the end of last year we were given preferred supplier status at one of the top three Global spirits groups, already resulting in two orders for a global vodka brand. The Spirit industry is really embracing the Makro technology that offers precision application and the most cost effective solution for any brand owner or contract bottler who is running several formats down the same line."
